The white house lawn was transformed into an unprecedented fighting arena on Sunday night, as President Donald Trump celebrated his 80th birthday with a UFC cage fight spectacle. The event, dubbed UFC Freedom 250coincided with the celebration of 250 years of American Independence and drew a mix of high-profile attendees and notable absences.

Despite reports of a star-studded guest list, several A-list celebrities who were rumored to attend, including Adam SandlerGuy Ritchieand Tom Bradywere notably absent. Other invited stars like Jared LetoJason StathamDwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnsonand Mario Lopez also did not make an appearance.

The Claw: A Monumental Fighting Arena

The centerpiece of the event was a towering, 92-foot-tall steel structure dubbed The Clawerected on the South Lawn. This 600-ton steel arch, built in Belgium, stood in stark contrast to the historic surroundings, towering over the old willow oaks and magnolia trees planted by past presidents. The venue could accommodate roughly 4,500 spectators, with additional seating for a watch party on The Ellipse, capable of hosting over 70,000 people.

The fighting arena, known as the Octagonwas a feat of marketeering, with every angle prominently displaying the names of sponsors. Among the sponsors were Live Trade on PolymarketBud LightPit Boss GrillsTotal WirelessMorgan & Morganand Toyo Tires. The steps leading into the ring bore the inscription .

High-Profile Attendees and Notable Absences

While many Hollywood stars snubbed the event, some notable figures did make an appearance. Mark Zuckerbergthe CEO of Metasat ringside and was seen greeting President Trump with a pat on the back. Tyson Furythe former world heavyweight champion, made an unbilled appearance, emerging from the Oval Office wearing a cap that read Donald Trump for Prime Minister.

Other attendees included David Ellisonthe CEO of Paramount Skydance, and Ari Emanuelthe Hollywood agent and CEO of TKO Groupthe parent company of the UFC. Several Trump family members, including the president’s youngest son, Barron Trumpwere also spotted in the crowd.

Celebrating America’s 250th Anniversary

The event was opened by the country music group Zac Brown Bandwith the Grammy-winning frontman singing the national anthem accompanied by the U.S. Marine Band. The fighters performed their pre-fight ring walks from the dressing room inside the Oval Office, down the historical hallways of the White House, adding a unique touch to the spectacle.

Several fighters heaped praise on Trump and his MAGA movement throughout the event. Fighter Bo Nickal thanked Trump for making this happenadding that it takes such a special person to have the balls to do something like this.

The poor turnout from the Hollywood crowd marks the latest Trump-linked event in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary that has been turned down by celebrities. Last month, several musicians pulled out of performances at the Great American State Fair after learning the event was sponsored by Freedom 250a Trump-affiliated group. At least six of the nine music acts set to play the Freedom 250 concert series pulled out, including Bret MichaelsYoung MCThe CommodoresMorris Day and the Timeand Martina McBride.
