To capture the essence of contemporary kitchen design, we collaborated with acclaimed interior architect and designer Luis Fernandez. With a distinct perspective on architectural technology and a passion for expressive design, Fernandez has interpreted current artistic trends through three stunning kitchen concepts that reflect sustainability, functionality, and timeless elegance.
Three Artistic Kitchen Concepts Inspired by Miele
This collaboration has resulted in a visually striking trio of kitchens that embody Fernandez’s signature style—futuristic yet timeless, balanced yet functional. Each kitchen serves as a canvas for innovation while honoring Miele’s core values. According to Fernandez, “Miele represents a unique blend of precision and technology, combined with an effortless beauty that I sought to capture in these designs. The appliances are not merely functional; they deserve to be showcased as integral parts of the space.”
Harmony with Nature
The first kitchen concept, titled Harmony in Nature, embodies the principles of biophilic design. This approach emphasizes our connection to the natural environment, creating a visually appealing space while promoting sustainability. By utilizing reclaimed materials, this kitchen seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor areas, showcasing a harmonious relationship with nature.
Fernandez effectively contrasts the utilitarian aspects of mirrored stainless steel with natural textures, such as the Verdi Alpi Green stone and abundant greenery. “By juxtaposing these materials, I aimed to create a space that fosters a sense of tranquility and connection to the environment,” he explains. The inclusion of glass brick walls enhances the flow between the interior and the lush patio beyond, inviting natural light to illuminate the area.
The Role of Miele Appliances
Miele’s appliances take center stage in this design, enhancing the kitchen’s functionality while contributing to its aesthetic appeal. The MasterCool refrigerator features gentle-touch double doors, amplifying the natural light that enters the kitchen. Additionally, the double wall ovens, speed oven, and fully integrated dishwasher exemplify the brand’s commitment to innovation. The dishwasher’s hot water function uses less water and energy than traditional models, underscoring Miele’s dedication to sustainability.
A Bold Revival: Neo-Expressionism
The second kitchen concept, Colossal Whispers, draws inspiration from the Neo-Expressionist movement, characterized by emotional depth and vibrant colors. This design features striking hues, such as rich crimson and lively aubergine, creating a dynamic atmosphere that evokes passion and intensity.
“I embraced the opportunity to take risks with this design,” Fernandez remarks. “The pairing of burl wood with pink travertine and patterned terracotta flooring creates an immersive experience that resonates with the vibrant themes of Neo-Expressionism.” The kitchen’s bold colors and textures come together to create a narrative celebrating life’s emotional spectrum.
Miele’s Innovation in Color
In this kitchen, Miele’s striking appliances, particularly in the Graphite series, enhance the overall aesthetic. The integrated refrigerator and dishwasher feature a seamless design that complements the room’s bold character. The refrigerator includes FoodView technology, allowing users to check contents without opening the door, while the cooking appliances offer WiFi connectivity for modern convenience.

Lastly, the kitchen titled Textural Depths embodies the principles of Abstract Maximalism, characterized by layered forms and a focus on materiality. This design features a muted color palette, allowing textures and geometric patterns to take center stage. According to Fernandez, “This kitchen may be the quietest of the three, but it possesses the most depth. The subtle colors enhance the impact of the layered textures.”
